MY JOURNEY INTO POLITICS

My name is Roxanna Garay, and I was born in Hialeah, Florida. My heritage background reflects the blend of Cuban and Ecuadorian roots through my father and mother, which has allowed me the opportunity to embrace diverse cultures and perspectives. Witnessing the dedication of my immigrant parents. Within my Cuban family, I draw inspiration from their unwavering commitment and resilience, in their establishment of a successful medical waste disposal business, now a part of Stericycle. My childhood included frequent visits to my mother's family in Guayaquil.

Throughout my upbringing, I actively participated in a religious organization, JTP (Jesus Christ Almighty). These experiences shaped me into a compassionate member of society. My first missionary trip to Nicaragua opened my eyes to my future dedication to public service and leadership.

After overcoming significant challenges and setbacks in my career due to a life-changing event, I found myself facing widowhood. The experience led to feelings of isolation, depression, and distraction, creating a very difficult and painful chapter in my life. Despite financial difficulties and interruptions, I kept on persevering and completed my career. After completing the first phase of my career, I decided to pursue a career in the logistics industry alongside my husband. His extensive expertise in managing logistics within a governmental institution inspired me to join him in this venture. Established in 2014, I relocated to Doral to build our company.

MY MISSION

Alongside managing our business, I made the proactive decision to obtain real estate licenses, a strategic move that has proven advantageous for our personal and professional growth. Having achieved great success in our logistics business, we decided to diversify. In addition to our core operations, we launched a technology company to provide our logistics clients with access to a wide range of hardware solutions.

At our tremendous success, we made the strategic decision to expand our business ventures internationally with the involvement of our family. This allowed me to gain valuable insights into entrepreneurship in the USA and South America, where I currently oversee multiple partnerships.

This transformative experience broadened my perspective and knowledge, propelling me toward a deeper understanding of the technology industry, following exposure to a range of governmental contracts.

With a background in project management, I excel in leading and overseeing complex projects while prioritizing innovation and sustainability. My bilingual communication skills enable effective interaction with diverse groups. Additionally, I possess expertise in implementing advanced technological solutions for operational improvement, such as IoT and Big Data.

Recognizing the crucial role of education, I pursued a master's degree in sustainable smart cities after gaining global exposure. I aim to drive comprehensive policymaking and leverage retrofitting frameworks to create green buildings that adhere to LEED standards (Leadership Energy and Environmental Development). Ultimately, I aspire to propel our city to the forefront of the United States by integrating cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly practices.
